The Resolution Center
Founded in 1993 though the support of the Foundation, The Resolution Center is Macomb County's premiere provider of alternative dispute resolution services. The Resolution Center primarily provides mediation services for a variety of civil, family and court connected disputes. In addition to providing mediation services, the Center is approved by the Michigan Supreme Court to provide the State of Michigan recognized 40-hour General Mediation Training and is certified to provide the federally recognized peer mediation training program for schools, "Peers Making Peace".
The Resolution Center is dedicated to enhancing the peaceful resolution of all forms of disputes by providing and promoting the use of appropriate alternative dispute resolution and collaborative problem solving processes that emphasize cooperation, collaboration and communication.
The Foundation has continually supported The Resolution Center's peacemaking efforts as the First Friend of the Center's annual "Evening at the Movies". Over the years the Foundation has granted the Center over $20,000 so that it may continue to serve the public.
Turning Point
Opened in 1980 with a 25 bed shelter and 24 hour crisis line, Turning Point remains Macomb County's only domestic and sexual assault agency. It's mission is to provide programs and resources to victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and homelessness that enable them to regain control of their lives. The organization's goals include the elimination of barriers to justice and safety for survivors of domestic and sexual assaults, to diminish the effects of violence on the individual, and to develop programs that address the root causes of violence in order to prevent violence in future generations. Throughout the years the legal community, through the Foundation has supported Turning Point with clothing and gift drives, legal assistance, fundraisers and grants.
Care House
Care House is a child-friendly, family-centered facility that coordinates the complex investigation, prosecution, and treatment services to victims of child sexual and physical abuse. The major component of this program is the single investigative interview. All of the professionals involved in a case gather at Care House to witness the forensic interview. This eliminates the need for the child to repeat his or her story and relive the trauma of the abuse over and over again.
Care House's Mission is to prevent and reduce the incidence and trauma of child sexual and physical abuse in Macomb County, Michigan through collaborative, multi-disciplinary, and effective family-centered activities.
From 1996 through 2010 the Foundation partnered with the Care House to produce "Christmas for Kids", one of Macomb counties premiere fundraising galas. Since the fundraiser began more than $425,000 has been raised to support the Care House and $145,000 for the Foundation's law related education programs. The legal community continues to support the Care House.
